TAP (Transforming Action through Power)

TAP (Transforming Action through Power) unites diverse congregations throughout South Bend to work for positive change. TAP's mission is to develop leaders with the personal and civic skills to address issues through community-based strategies. Rather than providing services, TAP targets the systemic causes of persistent problems such as low educational attainment, violence in the community, and barriers to full civic participation. Through TAP, the people of Kern Road Mennonite Church can forge connections across racial, ethnic, economic and denominational boundaries on the basis of shared values.

Members of KRMC were instrumental in the work that led to TAP's Founding Convention in 2007. The church is represented on TAP's Board of Directors and Clergy Caucus. New people are always welcome to work on task forces addressing specific issues. TAP is affiliated with the Gamaliel Foundation, an international organization that provides training to equip leaders for active civic engagement.
