Our Worship

Visiting Kern Road Mennonite on Sunday Morning

What to expect

From time to time we receive phone calls from inquirers wondering what our Sunday morning worship times are like:

  • How shall I dress?
  • Can people who are not Mennonites participate?
  • What kind of music do you have?
  • Are children welcome?
  • What do you have for children?
  • Do you serve communion and am I invited to receive it?
  • Will I really be welcome?

Here is some information to help you know what to expect:

Are you welcome to join us in worship?

Yes! Many different personalities and backgrounds of people have come through the doors of Kern Road in the forty plus years of the congregation's existence in South Bend.

  • We are students, graduate students, medical, business and educational professionals, factory and construction workers, accountants, business leaders, laborers, small business owners, homemakers, lawyers, physicians, bankers, lenders and middle management.
  • We are mostly Caucasian, but also African-American and Hispanic.
We are single, divorced, married, and widowed - with children and without.
  • We are intergenerational with many newborns and toddlers, many of retirement age, and many in between.
  • We enjoy meeting new people and welcoming others into our community.
  • We hope we have the opportunity to meet you too - very soon!
